The top clubs in Ireland compete in Tullamore

Sweltering heat is the only complaint at Tullamore Harriers stadium today. With temperatures at 21C and humidity levels at 59% it is really a sprinters and field eventers delight.
Already, Tom Carey is paying his way for City of Derry with a hurdles double. He clocked 53.95 in winning the 400m hurdles and 14.76 for the 100m hurdles to gove his club 18 valuable points.
James Ruxton from Shercock had a convincing win in the Premier 400m hurdles in a time of 53.73, while Niamh Cremin was equally impressive in winning the women’s Premier in 63.35.
Michael Doyle from Meath Athletics won the Premier walk after a close battle with Paul Fitzpatrick from Shercock, while Georgina Tuohy from Tullamore won the combined women’s race.
The two men’s hammer events saw Padraig White win the Premier with 55.08, and Daniel Clifford won Division 1 with 37.58.

Daniel Clifford from An Riocht has made it a double with victory in the Division 1 discus with a best throw of 40.73m, while Pavel Hazler from Leevale won the Premier Division with a best of 45.98m, ahead of Jeremy Harper from North Down with 45.08m.
John Laffey from Clonliffe had a runaway win in the 400m Premier with a time of 49.24, ahead of James Ruxton from Shercock in 49.84.
In a repeat of the National senior 1,500m, Colm Rooney from Clonliffe outkicked long time race leader Mark Hanrahan from Leevale in the last 100m to win in 3:55.31 to Hanrahan’s 3:55.50. Maria McCambridge from DSD finished a long way clear of the field to win the women’s Premier in 4:22.20.
Hammer wins have gone to Rhiannon McNally from Abbey in the Premier with a best throw of 44.09m, and Karen Healy in Division 1 with 39.55m.
David Donegan from Clonliffe cleared 4.82m to win the Premier pole vault, with Philip Kearney from An Riocht winning Division 1 with 3.60m.
The women’s 400m races went to Mary McLoone from Tir Chonaill in the Premier in 57.57, while Sinead Kelly won Div.1 in 57.92.

Mark Kenneally from Clonliffe spread-eagled the field to win the 5,000m in 14:39.44.
Antoinette Stafford from Athletics Wexford won the Premier long jump with 5.77m ahead of Mary devlin from Abbey with 5.71m, while Hannah Lewis from North down won the Div 1 with 5.78m.
Denis Finnegan from Leevale won the Premier triple jump with 14.27m, while Eoin Kelly from St. Abbans with 14.37m.
Two hundredths of a second separated winner Kevin McCloy from Shercock, 1:53.27, and Michael Dyer from North Down, 1:53.29, in a thrilling Premier 800m.
Gareth Hill from Ballymena & Antrim won the Div 1 800m in an equally close Div 1 race - 1:58.46 to 1:58.82.
National champion Sean Breathnach from Galway Athletics was an easy winner of the Div. 1 shot, and Luke Mangan from Clonliffe won the Premier with 12.93.
Maria McCambridge made it a double by winning the 800m in 2:16.46, while Sara Treacy from Meath Athletics won the Div 1 in 2:12.93.
Ailis McSweeney from Leevale scored a 100m / 200m double in 11.84/24.56. Anna B
Boyle from Ballymena & Antrim won the Div 1 in 12.17, and Hannah Lewis won the 200m in 24.51.
Gordon Kennedy won the Premier 200m in 21.51 and Gary Coulter from Ballymena & Antrim was the Div 1 winner in 22.75.
