Clubs & Schools Support World Athletics Day

POSTED:

The World Athletics Day is the IAAF’s annual youth festival and it’s held globally to promote the sport to young athletes.  This year Athletics Ireland held events at both clubs and schools competitions.  The schools event was in conjunction with the Connacht Schools on May 15th with the focus on the junior age group.  The clubs event was held at the Galway championships on 24th May.

The young athletes received t-shirts, certs and wrist bands and these were very popular.  The competitions produced some excellent performances with a number of personal bests achieved.  Many of the athletes will now be in action in the upcoming Irish Schools and provincial club championships where the World Athletics Day t-shirts should make them highly visible.
