A mammoth weekend of athletics action took place in Morton Stadium, with the Irish Life Health Combined Events and AAI Games taking place alongside the Tailteann Games.
It was a keenly contested in the senior women’s event with Agathe Guillemot taking the honours ahead of Laura Frey (Lagan Valley) who had been in good form this season. Guillemot showed her class across all events, rounded off with a strong finishing 800m. Karen Dunne completed the podium for Bohermeen.

Lara O’Byrne (Donore Harriers) took the U20 women’s title with a score of 4140 ahead of Caoimhe Rowe.
Ava Rochford (Ennis Track) proved a very impressive winner in the U15, while Laura Frawley (St Mary’s (Limerick) AC) took the U16 girls honours.
WE had a new champions in the senior men’s with Michael Breathnach (Galway City Harriers)Shane taking the honours in what looked like a very strong field. Shane Aston (Trim) and Michael Bowler (Enniscorthy) who have been raising the standards of the men’s decathlon in Ireland in recent years had to withdraw from competition.
Finn O’Neill (City of Derry) looked very impressive in taking the U15 in what was a very competitive field. Conor Hoade (Galway City Harriers) was top of the podium in the U16.
Super Sprinting Action
There was some super sprinting on show during the AAI Games in what were mixed conditions. The sprinters look like taking the top billing in the AAI Games on Sunday. Marcus Lawlor (O'Toole A.C.) ran a very solid race of 10.65 in the 100m ahead of Joseph Ojewumi (Tallagh). Alannah McGuiness (Carrick-on-Shannon A.C. ) ran a superb 12.31in taking the womens 100m.
Elizabeth Morland (Cushinstown) took the 200m in 25.45 while also finishing second to Sommer Lecky (Finn Valley A.C.) who jumped 1.84.
Shane Howard (Bandon A.C. ) took the men’s long jump in 7.44 ahead of Adam McMullen (Crusaders) who recently rupturing his achilles tendon.
