Double Olympic Gold Medallist for Cork Monique Hennagan, a member of the USA gold medal winning teams for the 4x400m relay at both the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games and the Athens 2004 Olympic Games, is the latest big name addition to the all star cast which will be assembled this coming Saturday at the Mardyke for the 56th Cork City Sports. Hennagan, a former world junior champion and twice US champion over 400m, who has run under 50 seconds for the one lap, should be just the athlete to bring the best out of Irish champion Joanne Cuddihy from Kilkenny who is nicely rounding into the form which took her to last year's European championships final. With Aliann Pompey, Donna Fraser and the speedy Russian Elena Migunova also competing a highly competitive race is guaranteed and competition is always the name of the game in Cork. Two late additions to the talented 100m line-up are Commonwealth silver medallist, Geraldine Pillay from South Africa and the speedy American, Wyllesheia Myrick. European Junior qualifier Amy Foster from the North starts and joins local sprinter Ailis McSweeney representing Ireland. The action begins at 2.00pm Tickets are available from: Tony O’Connell, Public Relations Officer, Cork City Sports, 85 North Main Street, Cork.
