Alistair Cragg broke Mark Carroll's Irish 10,000m record yesterday at the Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitational in Stanford University in the US. Cragg ran a time of 27.39.55, which was seven seconds faster than Carroll's previous record of 27.46.82, set at the same meet seven years ago. Cragg finished fourth overall in a race which included some of the world's top runners over that distance. Mullingar runner Martin Fagan set a new personal best as he recorded a time of 28.18.30 finishing 24th, while Mark Kenneally finished 29th in a time of 28.55.49.
