Clonliffe Harriers and DCH top Round 1 of the Indoor League 2018

There was a good turnout for the first round of the Irish Life Health National Indoor League Round 1 at the weekend, January 13th. There were six events in total this round, 60m, 60mH, 800m, long jump, shot put and pole vault with 8-9 points up for grabs for a win reducing to 1 for eight place. The competition saw Dublin City Harrier’s women and Clonliffe Harrier’s men topping the table for the first round.

Clonliffe Harriers, defending champions, had 3 important victories at the league on Saturday to lead round 1 of the men’s team competition. It saw Leo Morgan winning the 60m, Rouls Olusa coming 1st in the 60m hurdles and Keith Marks getting the gold in the men’s long jump. 

Defending their title from 2017, DCH’s women’s team lead after round 1 in the Irish Life Health National League Championships. They had 4 wins, Alison Burke won her event in the 60m hurdles, Claire Brennan won the 800m, Bridget Corrigan in the shot put and Catherine McManus in the women’s long jump. .

There was also a number of good individual performances on the day including Sarah Buggy, St. Abban’s, jumping 5.74 and Mark Kavanagh, Dundrum A.C. coming in first position in the men’s 60m Heat 1 Series 2.
