Forty two students from IT Sligo recently earned their Level 1 Coaching Qualification in Athletics in partnership with the Athletics Ireland Development Team. The students, currently studying for the Bachelor of Business Studies in Advanced Health and Fitness, undertook the Level 1 qualification over four days during the academic year. On the final day the students spent a day coaching children from primary schools in the locality. Feedback from the students, and particularly from the primary school children and their teachers who benefitted from a days coaching, was enormously positive. Pictured below are Kerry Larkin, course co-ordinator at IT Sligo, Eamon Harvey and Paul McNamara, Athletics Ireland Regional Development Officers, Melissa Lawless, Athletics Ireland Tutor, the students who undertook the Level 1 qualification, and children and teachers from local primary schools who assisted in the delivery of the course.
