Athletics Ireland is pleased to announce that the dates for the 2014 Level 2 Coach Education Course are now available. The course will be taking place in Athlone IT over three weekends with dates as follows:

  • Oct 18th/19th
  • Nov 1st/2nd
  • Nov 29th/30th

Applications are open now via our Online System and coaches are advised to apply as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. 

Each applicant must have completed the Athletics Ireland Level 1 Coach Education course and have a minimum of 1 years coaching experience. Places will be limited in each event group to keep the quality of delivery high. Coaches will have three full weekends to complete as follows:

  • Weekend 1 Generic modules for all event groups
  • Weekend 2 Event Specific
  • Weekend 3 Event Specific

Coaches must choose one event group from either Jumps, Throws, Sprints or Endurance/Walks and specify this on the online entry form. There will be a written assessment on the final day of the course as well as continuous assessment throughout each weekend.

Level 2 is far more comprehensive than Level 1.  Coaches wishing to gain maximum benefit will have a basic knowledge of coaching principles.
