The national half marathon championship takes place on Sunday next in Letterkenny commencing at the early time of 11.15am. Late entries ( 12 euro per individual ) are being accepted on the day. All athletes should report to St Eunan's GAA Club . The half marathon has been a hugely successful event down through the years and Sunday is certain to be another excellent edition. With entries still coming in it is difficult to predict the outcome of both men's and women's events. However in the men's race Paul McNamara, Cian McLoughlin, Gary Crossan, Noel Cullen and Pauric McKinney are certain to be to the fore. On the women's side Emer Martin is a leading contender. AAI have made a commitment to send one male and one female athlete to the World Road Running Championships in Debrecem, Hungary in October based on Letterkenny results subject to athletes attaining a reasonable standard ( approximate guidelines are 65/66 minutes men; 75/76 minutes women )
