Athletics Ireland Competition entry process

POSTED:

We are continuously striving to ensure that the entry process is as smooth and fair to all athletes in the organisation, therefore, a more stringent entry process is being introduced with immediate effect.

Track & Field/Cross Country

For all future events the closing date will be the Wednesday week prior to an event.
Late entries will only be accepted up to and including the Sunday prior to the event, however late entry fees will apply.
The late entry fee will be determined by the initial entry fee as follows:

Individual Entry Additional €10 (Juvenile additional €5)
Team Entry Additional 50%
Relay Entry Additional 50% (including Road Relays)
  • No entries will be accepted after the late entry closing date and no entries will be accepted on the day of Competition
  • Team & relay declarations and any substitutes will be made at point of entry
  • Changes to the team/relay can be made on the day of competition once those athletes were listed on the substitute list

Road Races

  • For all Athletics Ireland hosted road races Entries will close on the Wednesday prior to the event. Team declarations must be submitted prior to this day also.
  •  No late entries will be accepted, no entries on the day of competition will be accepted.
  • All entries must be completed via the AAI entry4sport entry system. https://athleticsireland.entry4sports.com/#/  The link to this site can also be found on our fixtures page.
  • When the National Road Championships are held in conjunction with an Athletics Ireland recreational event (e.g. Great Ireland Run, Irish runner 5K,5 mile,10mile), once the closing date for the championships has passed athletes may still enter these recreational events but will not be included in the National Championship results.
  • The Marathon held in conjunction with the Dublin Marathon and the Half Marathon held in conjunction with Rock n Roll will close at the designated date of Dublin Marathon / Rock n Roll
  • The above process will ensure that all athletes are cross checked with our membership database at the point of entry. We are also working closely with Dublin marathon and Rock n Roll for the same.

As mentioned above, the purpose of these changes is to ensure a smoother and fairer entry process for ALL athletes.  It will also ensure that all athletes in a championship are registered members with AAI and that athletes are participating in the correct age group

This entry process will also assist with a smoother check in process on day of competition for all athletes with fewer errors at check in and on field/track sheets

This process will apply to all athletes/clubs and therefore enable a full list of all entrants to be viewed throughout the entry process and at the time of closing.

Should you have any queries on any of the above, please do not hesitate to contact competition@athleticsireland.ie
