Scullion runs PB in Houston

Stephen Scullion (Clonliffe Harriers) earned a qualifying spot for the Olympics with a fifth place finish in 2:11:52 at the Houston marathon today (January 19).

The run, which was a personal best, was just short of the automatic Olympic qualifying time of 2:11:30 but his 5th-place finish in a gold label road race ensures qualification. He is the second Irishman after Paul Pollock (Annadale Striders) to qualify for Tokyo.
