O'Connor the record breaker at International Schools Combined Events

O'Connor stars at International Schools

Kate O’Connor was the big story of the day at the International Schools Combined Events Championships setting a new record of 3803 points in the Junior Age Category breaking Katarina Johnson-Thompson’s record.

Johnson-Thompson set the record of 3769 points for England in 2007. O’Connor recorded 5.57m in the long jump, 9.37 seconds in the 60 Hurdles, 1.66m in the High Jump, 11.25m shot put and 2:19.45 in the 800m to win the junior girls in style.

Brian Lynch was third in the junior boys with 3192 points while Damien Hickey  Damien Hickey and

Tony Odubote were second and third respectively in the intermediate boys. Hickey recorded four new PB’s on the day to finish with 3505 points and Odubote scored 3394 points.

 Daniel Ryan was going strong until he had an injury in the long jump curtailing his individual ambitions but battled on to help the team to a second place finish.
