The Charity The Anthony Nolan Trust takes back lives from leukaemia by providing lifesaving donors for patients in need of a bone marrow transplant. Since 1974 they have helped to give over 5,800 children and adults a new chance of life thanks to the support of companies and individuals willing to give their help. They heavily rely on events such as this to fund the amazing lifesaving work they do and raise the awareness of the cause in order to recruit and fund more potentially lifesaving donors. “It’s good to be alive” A bone marrow recipient. Event History Historically in Scotland this event has raised hundreds of thousands for great causes. It has attracted phenomenal crowds and extensive media interest. I’m starting in Dublin and running the length of the Grand Canal to the Shannon and then running the length of the Royal canal back to Dublin. Its 280km of running in 6 days. And to spice it up a little more the fourth day is a double marathon. The website gives all the details www.irishultrarunner.com Naturally there is a purpose to this madness. I’m trying to raise money for 2 x Charities. The first one is homegrown – The Children’s Hospital in Crumlin. And the second one is a grown-away-from-home - Hogar Santa Teresita, Oberá www.obera.org On the main website there is a facility to donate online. We have also arranged for bucket collections to happen on the major towns along the canals as I pass through Naas, Edenderry, Tullamore, Mullingar, Maynoooth & Longford Any help would be appreciated – especially if you could direct people to the website so they might donate online. Thanks Eoin Ryan
