The Irish Schools Athletic Association Executive have met on Wednesday 5th May 2021 to discuss all possible options for Schools’ competitions to resume as we enter into the final weeks of the academic year for all students. We understand it has been a very difficult year for so many in terms of lack of competition.

Due to the ongoing restrictions, unfortunately we have decided to cancel the prestigious Irish Life Health All Ireland Schools Track & Field for 2021 which was due to take place on Saturday 5th June 2021. This decision was not taken lightly as we understand the importance of competition and need for school athletes to represent their school with pride.

The Schools International Athletic Board have decided to postpone the Schools International Track & Field Match which was originally fixed for the 17th July 2021 to the 25th of September 2021.

The Irish Life Health Tailteann Games will now take place on Saturday 11th September for the Intermediate age group will act as the main selection trial for the SIAB’s International.

We do wish all school athletes all the best in their upcoming exams and club competitions later in the Summer months. We look forward to seeing you in the new Academic year in September 2021 and representing your school.

President of the Irish Schools Athletic Association

Mr. Billy Delaney
