Day 2 With weather coditions much improved on yesterday's unseasonal rain and wind, performances were, needless to say, also much improved. Highlight of the championships so far was the performance of Thomas Houlihan who won the under 17 pole vault with a clearance of 3.91m. This is a new championship best performance, replacing the 1974 effort of Liam Hennessy (Not the President - the other one!!) whose record stood at 3.90m.
