Athletics Ireland are pleased to announce their team for the World Youth Championship in Ostrava, Czech Republic on 11-15th July. A team of four will represent Ireland in these championships. Several athletes who have achieved the qualifying standard have decided in consultation with their coaches and Athletics Ireland to concentrate solely on the European Youth Olympics. This is due to the two championships being within 10 days of each other. Team manager Geraldine Nolan said, “This is a fantastic opportunity for some of our younger athletes to experience competition on the world stage.” The team includes the exciting talent of Colin Quirke in Shot and Discus, son of Olympian Paul Quirke, High Jumpers Kourosh Fouroghi who recently jumped 2.11m, Barry Pender and Grainne Moggan.
