2022 IAU 24H European Championship, Verona Italy, 17th- 18th September 2022

Athletes who wish to be considered for the National Team at the 2022 IAU 24H European Championships must fill in the National Team Declaration form as per the below link.    

To be considered for selection, athletes must meet the following criteria:

·         Be eligible to compete for Ireland (Irish passport).

·         Member of an Athletics Ireland affiliated club.

·         Have achieved the minimum required qualifying distance of Men 220km / Women 200km within the previous 24 months.

·         Provide proof of current form with races of 6 hours or longer

·         Distances / results must have been achieved in an IAU labelled race.

·         Athletes must be injury free.

·         A lower age limit of 20 years will apply because of the nature of the event.

Because of the recent pandemic and lack of racing opportunities there will be a focus on proof of fitness and current form with the following criteria also considered:

·         Have shown consistency of performances in races of a similar distance

·         Demonstrated the potential to win individual or team medals in this or future championships.

·         Previous ultra-distance experience  at European / World Championships.

The selected Team will be one that the panel feels can realistically challenge for a Team Medal.  Expressions of interest must be received no later than Thursday 28th April.

Declaring an interest does not guarantee selection.
