European Indoor Silver Medalist Mark English (UCD) continued his early season racing programme taking in a 600m race at the Golden Spike Meeting in Ostrava on the 26th of May. The competition was of the highest quality with World Record holder and Olympic champion David Rudisha in the field.

Dramatic Race

There was a dramatic start to the race with Rudisha pulling up in the first 100m due to injury. Un-deterred English jostled for position and entered the final bend with a slight advantage over rival Adam Kszczot of Poland. The Donegal athlete looked to have it won only for Kszczot to pass him over the final 30m to win the race in a time of 1m16.02 with English a close second in a time of 1m16.14 seconds.
