4x400 relay teams give their all

It wasn’t to be for the Irish 4x400m relay teams as neither progressed to the final at the European U20 Championships in Grosseto, Italy this morning (July 22).

The women’s team of Mollie O’Reilly (DSD), Ciara Deely (Kilkenny City Harriers), Miriam Daly (Carrick-on-Suir) and Niamh Gowing (DSD) finished 5th in their heat in 3:47.48.

It was also a 5th place finish for the men in their heat with Jamie Pender (St Abban’s), Shane Irwin (Finn Valley), Jack Manning (Kilkenny City Harriers) and Jamie Mitchell (Emerlad) clocked 3:14.97.
