Mark Carroll is fifth in Arkansas The Tyson Invite at the University of Arkansas track last night showed Irish athletes getting into top gear in preparation for the European Indoor championships in Birmingham on the first weekend of March. Defending European champions Alistair Cragg moved well up the European rankings with a third place finish in the 3,000m with a time of 7:43.30. Behind him, in fifth position, Mark Carroll dipped inside the qualifying standard with a time of 7:52.07 and looks set to continue his European experience by joining Cragg on the start line in Birmingham.
