Four Irish athletes amongst qualifiers A highly successful indoor season winds up at the weekend with the American NCAA championships taking place at Fayetteville in Arkansas. Thomas Chamney (Notre Dame) returns to action after crossing the Atlantic twice in the past week or so for the European Indoor championships. He competes in the 800m where his 1:47.82 ranks him No. 2 in the field. He finished sixth in this event last year. Martin Fagan (Providence College) is ranked No. 6 in the 3,000m after his 7:55.06 clocking for the distance. Colin Costello (Arkansas) competes on his home track after qualifying last weekend in the mile with a time of 4:01.35. He is ranked No. 12 of the qualifiers. Rose Ann Galligan (Tennessee) brings to four the Irish participation and she competes in the Distance Medley Relay (DMR) where she runs the 1,200m leg, and also the 4x400m relay where she takes the first leg. Tennessee is ranked 4th in the DMR and 12th in the shorter relay.
