The Athletics Ireland Athletes' Commission, which has been in operation since February 2022 has continued to work behind the scenes in recent months.

The Athletes' Commission, which is chaired by Cian McManamon, is encouraging all of our international athletes to familiarise themselves with the commission representatives and their role.

He said : ”As we enter a busy phase of winter international competition, I would urge all of our athletes to familiarise themselves with the Athletics Ireland Athletes' Commission. The Athletes’ Commission, which is made up of 7 representatives from the different athletics disciplines encourages feedback from athletes, particularly as international action ramps up following a brilliant edition of the national senior cross country championships last month.”

Athletes' Commission:

  • To act as a voice for international athletes.
  • To ensure strong channels of communication are in place to ensure athlete specific issues are highlighted at the appropriate level of the organisation.
  • To support the work of the Athletics Ireland Board and organisation.
  • To ensure strong international athlete advocacy.
  • To provide an avenue for international athlete grievances to be considered.
  • To act as advocates for Athletics Ireland.
