The Fifth Annual Coaching Conference will be taking place this year on 20th September at the University of Ulster, Jordanstown. This year will include another great line up of speakers from British Athletics and Athletics Ireland.

The conference aims to disseminate knowledge from the speakers along with giving the coaches an opportunity to network. Key note speakers will include; Barry Fudge (Head of Endurance and Sport Science at British Athletics) Tom Crick (Coaching Professional Development Manager for British Athletics) and Paula Dunn (Paralympic Head Coach for British Athletics).

Event Group speakers will include; Sprints – Tom Crick (As above) Throws – David Parker (National Coach Mentor) Endurance – Chris Jones (National Endurance Coach Athletics Ireland) Jumps – Fuzz Ahmed (Performance Coach British Athletics) Coaches are encouraged to attend this as a development opportunity.

  • Barry Fudge – ‘Integration of sport science for optimal training adaptation and competition performance in track and field’
  • Tom Crick - ‘Developing Future Champions’,
  • Paula Dunn –‘Rio 2016 the continuance of the Journey’
  • Event Group topics to include;
  • Jumps - Fuzz Ahmed –‘High Jump and High Jump Training’
  • Throws - David Parker – ‘Physical Preparation for the Throws’
  • Endurance - Chris Jones – ‘Fundamental considerations for endurance running ’
  • Sprints - Tom Crick - ‘Theory and practice of developing high speed running mechanics’

Coaches will have the opportunity to watch all key note speeches and have the option of attending two event groups. These will range from one of the following morning sessions - Sprints, Jumps or Endurance and one of the afternoon sessions of Sprints, Endurance, Jumps and Throws. Coaches should choose two different event group workshops as these will be repeated throughout the day.
