Thomas Barr has secured his place in the semi-final of the 400m hurdles at the World Athletics Championships in Oregon this evening (July 16th). Barr once again produced a big performance when it mattered, clocking a season’s best of 49.15 to cross in second place in heat 4 to secure an automatic qualifying spot for Monday’s semi-final. It was a tricky heat on paper, but Barr showed all his big race experience to come home powerfully over the final two hurdles to post the 3 fastest time of all the qualifiers. The Ferrybank star will now return for the semi-final at 2.03am on Monday 18th.
