Barr leads good day 1 in Finland

Thomas Barr (Ferrybank) was in good form as Ireland had a good day 1 at the European Team Championships League 1 in Vaasa, Finland.

Barr won his 400m hurdles heat in 50.49 seconds in what is going to be a quality final.

Ben Reynolds (North Down) was disqualified in heat 1 of the men's 110m hurdles and was followed by Sarah Lavin (UCD) who ran 13.69 in the 100m hurdles to qualify for the final

Eanna Madden (Carrick on Shannon) clocked 10.85 seconds in the 100m with Amy Foster (City of Lisburn) second in her 100m heat in 11.59.

Marcus Lawler (SLOT) was on fire in the 200m winning his heat in 20.71 with Phil Healy (Bandon) 7th fastest overall in the 200m with 24.18.

Brian Gregan (Clonliffe Harriers) went through as fastest in the 400m with a 46.24 clocking with Sinead Denny (DSD) through as fifth fastest overall in the 400m with 54.14.

Christine McMahon (Ballymena and Antrim) missed out by a place for the women's 400m hurdles final.
