There were some superb performances by the Irish teams at the Celtic International in Antrim today. Three of the four AAI age group teams headed the points totals at the end of the day – Under 18 girls and boys, as well as under 16 girls. It meant that the Athletics Ireland team won the overall trophy. Niamh Whelan was in great form winning the 100m and 300m under 18, while Ciara Everard (800m), Lorraine McCarthy (1,500m), Suzanne Huet (3,000m) and Sam Kelly (800m) all recorded good wins in their events. Discus wins went to Daniel Clifford and Clare Fitzgerald; high jump wins to Grainne Moggan and Koroush Fouroghi, while Gerard Kelly won the hammer.
