Derval O'Rourke faces strong opposition in Cork Competing on her home track in Cork next week, World Indoor Hurdles Champion, Derval O'Rourke will face a strong challenge in her quest to win the 100m hurdles for the first time at the Cork City Sports. Holder and great rival Sarah Claxton from England will again be the obvious danger to the Douglas girl but Nadine Faustin (Haiti), Andrea Bliss (Jamaica) and the American Kelly Wells have already shown good early season form. The Italian girl, Micol Cattaneo has lowered her personal best on two occasions in past month and the experienced Nigerian, Toyin Augustus, now based in Paris will surely push the home favourite at the finish. However with a couple of international races now behind O'Rourke should finally break the Mardyke hoodoo and cross the line first despite the talented opposition pitted against her. The rising Waterford star, Mairead Murphy, completes the exciting line-up. Tickets are available from: Tony O’Connell, Public Relations Officer, Cork City Sports, 85 North Main Street, Cork.
