Joanne Cuddihy to run 400m on Saturday Irish record holder, Joanne Cuddihy, has opted to switch from the 200m to her favoured event, the 400m, at next Saturday's 56th. Cork City Sports. The Kilkenny born medical student ran some sensational races to make the final of last season's European Championships in Gothenburg and feels she is now ready to build on her three month training stint in the USA and run even faster this year. The Mardyke this weekend will be a good gauge of her form as she has former Commonwealth champion Aliann Pompey from Guyana, Olympic fourth placer, Donna Fraser and the dangerous Russian Elena Migunova to contend with. Elsewhere in the field events Olympic shot putt silver medallist from Germany, Nadine Kleinert who has thrown over 20m will be the main attraction in the womens event while Reese Hoffa, the current World Indoor Champion heads a star cast in the mens event including the powerful Russian, Ivan Yushkov, Canadian thrower Dylan Armstrong and three other 20m plus throwers from the USA lead by the great Jamie Bayer.
