Cushinstown Athletics Club celebrated their 50th Anniversary on the 9th of September 2023.
Since their establishment in the early 1970’s, the club has grown from strength to strength.
The founding members never rested during the development of the club and as time passed the club worked towards developing their own athletic complex.
Cushinstown AC developed a running track, athletic facilities, and dressing rooms, with works beginning in the summer of 1985 and the facility was opened on 29th April 1990. The club’s vision continued and with the help of many different committees, club members, volunteers, local community, neighbours, and friends the club kept growing and now they have a facility of over 1400 sqm.
Having had success at county, regional and national level, following the first national title in 1979 the club has produced numerous national champions.
As a club Cushinstown have changed the lives of many through sport and have driven gender equality by encouraging women in sport to act as role models and show men and women as equals.
We wish Cushinstown the very best of luck in their future endeavours and hope the next 50 years is just as successful as the previous.
