DCU men and UL women emerged victorious with DCU winning the overall team prize at the IUAA indoors that were held in Nenagh on the 2nd and 3rd of December. An early start to the indoor season saw some encouraging performances by some of our most promising athletes. The two most noteworthy performances of the weekend were produced by Orla Drumm (UCC) and Danny Darcy (DCU). Drumm a medical student at UCC front ran her way to victory in the women's 3,000m recording an impressive 9: 41.0 which is also a new personal best. European Junior silver medallist Darcy also produced a gun to tape victory in the men's 1500m recording 3:55.0. He will now concentrate on his first proper indoor season in the new year and will aim to come close to the European indoor standard over the metric mile. The men's 800m also saw David McCarthy of UL begin his transition to the 800m. He won easily in a pedestrian 1: 58.20.
