The World Military Games will be held in Hydrobad, India on 12th - 20th October of this year and the Defense Forces Athletic Association currently has six athletes chasing qualification. Athletes looking to qualify include Lt. Adrian Watson over 800m, Lt. Ruaidhri Kedney in the 200m, Lt. James Ledingham in both 800m/1500m, Cpl. Eddie O' Neill in the 5000m, twice National senior champion Pte. Stephen McDonnell in the 400h and Pte. Alan O Brien in the 1500m The Irish Army recently held a highly successful training camp in UL in preparation for this event. As part of their preparations they travelled to Galway to take in the competition on Day 3 of the Galway T&F Series. Performances there included a clean sweep of the top 3 places in a highly competitive 400m, including a 51 second posting in his first ever 400m race for Alan O'Brien, followed by James Ledingham and Ruaidhri Kedney. Other fine performances included a pb for Eddie O'Neill in the 5000m and a strong run in the 4x100m. The squad is currently eyeing the 4x400m at the National Senior Relays.
