World champion finishes fourth in Greece Derval O'Rourke made a belated start to her indoor season with a fourth place finish at the Athina 2008 meet this evening. After injury upset her plans to compete in the Woodie's DIY she will be reasonably pleased with her performance. 60mh 1 Damu Cherry 7.94, 2 Lacena Golding Clarke JAM 7.98, 3 Kellie Wells USA 8.06, 4 Derval O'Rourke IRL 8.09, 5 Mariya Koroteyeva RUS 8.10 Three Irish athletes performed well at yesterday’s Jumps International at the Lee Valley Stadium in London where they competed as guests in the Great Britain V Netherlands International. Rising star, Kelly Proper of Ferrybank A.C won the women’s long-jump with a leap of 6.24 metres and Mark Crowley of DCH finished 6th in the men’s high-jump with 2.07m. Pamela Hughes of Westport A.C placed joint third in the women’s high-jump with 1.76 metres and marginally missed clearing 1.80m-a performance that would have earned her a World Junior qualifying standard.
