Discus Development Weekend At Dunboyne AC

Dunboyne Athletic Club’s superb facility hosted the Athletics Ireland ‘Discus Development Weekend’ on Saturday (5th) and Sunday (6th), February 2022.

Over 20 coaches and 15 athletes attended over the weekend making an important step towards the development of coaching in this technical event.
Garry Power of England Athletics shared his wide experience with coaches on the Saturday and with national level athletes on the Sunday. Being the first of a series of events for Discus development, this weekend placed a huge emphasis on the technical aspects of turning at the back of the circle, which basically makes or breaks a successful throw. Athletes and coaches all increased their understanding over the sessions and are looking forward to putting some ideas into practice over the coming weeks.
