Championship record pace

Kevin Dooney and Brandon Hargreaves battled well to finish 11th and 12th respectively in a searingly fast 10,000m won in a new championship record by Turkey's Ali Kaya in 27:53.38.

Dooney (Raheny Shamrock) and Hargreaves (DSD) managed their races as best they could and finished in 29:58.41 and 30:06.73. Hargreaves went out more aggressively in the first 3,000m and paid for his exertions in the middle stages of the race. Dooney paced himself more sensibly and came through strongly at the finish.
