James Nolan Runs A Fast 800m In Santry - Buncrana 5k Results James Nolan ran the fastest 800 metres run by an Irish athlete in Ireland this year when he clocked 1m50.81 at the Dublin Boards Graded Meeting in Santry last night after a great battle down the home straight with fellow Clonliffe man Colm Rooney with Conor Healy another Clonliffe athlete in third spot. Menapians Barry Upton was the man charged with pace making role and an opening lap of 54 seconds set the race up for all those following him. Nolan took over as they as they reached the 500 metres mark and proceeding down the back straight very impressively passing 600 metres in 78 seconds. Colm Rooney who has been having a fine season moved alongside James as they rounded the final bend and took over at the front as they entered the home straight. The good crowd were treated to a fine battle over the last 800 metres as Nolan recovered to regain the lead in the last 40 metres and win by .98 of a second. It was a good work out was how James described the race. Personal bests came thick and fast as no fewer than eight athletes had to re write their race diaries after the race. Kelly Reid had to front run her 800 metres and was quite an impressive winner as she clocked 2.08.17 to win from Ciara Durkin. Michael O Sullivan moved up from 400 metres to win over 800 metres in 1.58.12 with Dunboynes Morgan McDonagh another 800 winner in 2.00.25. Mary McCloone ran faster than some of our more established sprinters in the 200 clocking 25.56 with David Hynes winning the mens equivalent in 22.83. Conditions were ideal for the meeting the fourth in the series organized by Dublin Athletic Board with in excess of 30 athletes leaving Morton Stadium with personal bests.
