Eight-lane athletics track planned for Lusk

19 August 2026

Plans are in place to build an eight-lane athletics track in Lusk at Rathmore Park with work due to commence on 24 August 2026.

After years of consultation and collaboration between the sports clubs affiliated with Lusk
Sports CLG (formerly the Lusk 2020 Sports Group) and Fingal County Council, including Lusk AC, the project is due to be completed in July 2027.

Other sports clubs were also acknowledged: Round Towers GAA Club, Lusk United, Fingal Triathlon Club, Lusk Community Council and the principals of both Lusk Community School, and Lusk Educate Together for their contribution and support during the planning and funding stage of the project.

The athletics track is just one arm of the project with an extended car park, floodlit all-weather Go Games/training area and ball wall, teen Space, landscaping and associated facilities, including storage and bicycle parking also included in the ambitious project.

The contractor will begin site set-up and secure the works area with temporary fencing from the
week beginning 24 August 2026. Pedestrian detours will be in place for the duration of the
works, which are expected to last approximately 11 months.
