Clouds hung over the camp early this morning as the leaving cert students ( except Andrew ) were the first up for study. The weather was colder than previous days but perfect for the hill session. The brave Aqua joggers headed for the Arctic Ocean  (the nearest pool). We tried out our new top class drills demonstrated earlier in the week. Coach again ordered a solid 6/6/7 out of ten for the longer ones and quick turnover for the shorter hills. Everyone (just the girls) brought some of their competitive spirits to the session. Shoutout to the farmer who was ever generous with his supply of oranges for the parched athletes.

Post Session

After the session a group of athletes directed by John Travers, set off on an expedition to find a big supermarket to gather some much needed supplies for lunch/dinner. Some were clever and didn't listen to Traver's directions which made very little sense, while others, the brains of the group ( Siobhra ) took the taxi and successfully reached the desired location and arrived back within the hour. The journey for the rest which was estimated to take an hour, came to an end five hours later when the exhausted/sunburned/dehydrated/blistered athletes collapsed in the gate of the camp. Louise's blister growing ever bigger.

Games

Shane took the pool games to a whole new level when demonstrating ( showing off ) his impressive trick shots. However, he still managed to sink the black mid game giving Andrew and Podge the win. Joe Ryan exceeded many people's expectations when showing up Andrew and Travers in a game of "keepy uppys". His impressive ankle control led him to victory recording a score of 134 kick ups.

Foam Rolling

Jack and Clodagh ( along with crucial inputs from our expert Siobhra) led the squad in some very detailed and well explained foam rolling by the pool side. Jack took his revenge on Kevin dropping him into the icy depths after a war earlier involving multiple pairs of shoes and Jack unsuccessfully removing his favorite green t-shirt, before hitting the water. The athletes were very efficient and had everything rolled out in no time before heading to the two ringed hobs for more slower than slow-cook cooking.

Everyone then left Rhona and Peter to write the blog up while they went to the beach for an evening wander.
