Athletics Ireland is pleased to announce provisional details for the 4th meeting of the Endurance Coaches Network (ECN) on Saturday 1st April at Athlone IT. The event program will again focus on giving coaches’ practical information that they can take away and use to help improve their own coaching practice and will be delivered through plenary presentations and breakout sessions. There will be time for question & answers at all sessions also. If you are a club coach, development coach or a performance coach then this event has something to offer you. The (ECN) will bring the coaching community together again to gain & share knowledge and more importantly to network with each other. It will be hosted in the excellent surroundings of Athlone IT and run from 9.30am-5.00pm.

Steve Macklin, Athletics Ireland Coach Education Lead for Endurance said:
"I am really looking forward to ECN 4 as we have another superb line up of speakers and these coaches will share all. It should be a fantastic day sharing and learning and I encourage every endurance coach in Ireland to attend and make that investment in themselves and their athletes. As per the last event, we have given more time to the breakout sessions and have also added a 2nd  theory & practical workshop on running mechanics being run by Rene Borg and Jason Kehoe. We also have some of our own Irish endurance coaches Robert Denmead, Paul McNamara and Henry Kiely presenting and sharing all. I am extremely pleased to announce that our international special guest keynote speaker will be Robert Hawkins. Robert is the National Endurance Coach mentor for Scottish Athletics and he coaches at Kilbarchan AAC, where he coaches a number of athletes including his sons Callum and Derek Hawkins. Robert has recently, and most notably, coached both Callum and Derek to the London Marathon last April, where not one but both athletes gained GB selection the Olympic Games in Rio. Callum also recently set a new Scottish Half Marathon record of 60.00 in Japan as well as being 2nd in the senior mens race at the Great Edinburgh International XC in January. At the conference, Robert will give a presentation on his coaching philosophy, the training of his two sons and coaching Callum and Derek to the Rio Olympic Games. It promises to be a superb presentation.”
