The European Youth Olympic festival begins on the 26th of July and runs through to the 1st of August. Over 3800 athletes from 50 European countries will arrive in Tbilisi to participate in the Youth Olympic Festival. For the first time in its history, the EYOF will run for six days of competition. The European Youth Olympic Festival will host twelve athletics events including the long and sprinting events in running as well as hurdles, steeplechase and relay events. The field will host long jump, high jump, triple jump and pole vault events with throwing events in the javelin, hammer, discus and shot putt also taking place over the six day period.
The Irish Squad
The Irish team features 16 young athletes who have reached the qualification standard over the past year.

Sprinting for Success
Lauren Ryan (Dooneen A.C.), Gina-Apke Moses (Birchfield A.C.) and Ciara Neville (Emerald A.C.) lead the Irish team into the sprint events. Three athletes who have raced against each other for their clubs and are all on top form having reach the qualification mark to enter the games in Tbilisi.
Middle Distance
Kevin Mc Grath (Bohermeen A.C.) , Laura Ward (St.Laurence O'Toole) and Aaron Mc. Glynn (Finn Valley) will be competing in the European Youth Olympic Festival for Ireland. The young athletes have produced impressive times throughout the year and will look to continue their good form.
