At the second annual Bertie Quinn Track and Field Meet, hosted by Tullamore Harriers in cooperation with the Irish Milers Club, young Mark Milner set the track alight with a stunning run in the Under 16 Boys 800m. The first lap was very aggressive and Mark got the bell with 55 seconds on the clock. He didn’t panic at such a fast time and held great form over the final quarter of the race. He was rewarded with an impressive new PB of 1.55:86. Mark was then awarded the Bertie Quinn Perpetual Shield in recognition of his run being the best performance of the event.
Other notable performances included a fine win by Jessica Coyne who won the Women's 1500m in a time of 4.32; Amy O'Donoghue with 2.08 in the 800m; and of course Kieran Kelly in the Men's A Race ran a brilliant tactical race to win in 1.50.
There were 160+ athletes entered in the event and with conditions good and there was a great atmosphere around the stadium. Both the club and the IMC would like to thank all that attended.
