Ashling Murphy (23) will be remembered and celebrated by her family and friends on Sunday, November 13 at the annual Remembrance Run 5k supported by Silver Stream Healthcare – Walk or Run event in the Phoenix Park, Dublin.
“Ashling’s parents, Ray and Kathleen, along with her aunts, uncles and cousins will join together in the Remembrance Run 5k and celebrate her life in this positive and uplifting event,” said Ms Murphy’s cousin, Fergal Leonard.
“Ashling, who was only 23, never got to finish her run on that tragic day in January.”
“Like so many of us, she was just out for her daily run and the Remembrance Run 5k will give her family and friends an opportunity to finish that run for her and to celebrate her life and the precious memories that she left us.”
Ms Murphy was a primary school teacher, talented traditional musician and music teacher.
The Forget Me Nots choir will be performing at the start and Our Lady Of Victories choir will lift participants spirits at the half-way point of the course, while participants will also receive a special souvenir candle.
The Remembrance Run 5k has a strong musical theme. Frank Greally founded the event with Athletics Ireland in 2012 to remember the late sports journalist Con Houlihan.
Participants take part at their own pace and can write messages for departed loved ones on a wall of remembrance.
“This annual Remembrance Run 5k gives us an opportunity to pause and remember loved ones passed and a chance to celebrate our own gift of days and fullness of health,” Mr Greally said.
