Brian Fay clocked a superb indoor 5,000m PB of 13.24.00 (oversized track) in Seattle last night to jump to the top of the Irish all-time list (indoors).

The Raheny Shamrock star has been in sparkling form of late, carrying on from his brilliant top 10 performance in the senior men’s race at the 2021 European Cross Country Championships in Dublin last December.

The 13.24.00 time ranks as the quickest by an Irishman in over a decade (Alistair Cragg NR of 13:03.53 in 2011).

Fay’s time equals the qualification standard for the European Championships (Munich) in August.

Roisin Flanagan moved to 4th on Irish all-time list for 5,000m indoors, with the Finn Valley AC star clocking a 15:36:05 (7th) at the Boston University Invitation last night.

Flanagan went to Boston in good form having won a 1 Mile Run at the New Mexico Team Open in Albuquerque in a time of 4:40.59.

Her twin sister, Eilish, was also in action in Boston, finishing second in a separate 5,000m race in 15:45.69.
