Early this morning in Beijing, Amy Foster of North Down qualified for the semi-final of the 200m at the World Junior Championships in a personal best time of 24.37. Amy had suffered injury problems in the build up to the Championship but has shown that she is clearly back to her best. Amy competed in the European Junior Championships last year but still has one more year at junior level, she took a silver medal home from the European Youth Olympic Festival also in 2005. We wish her all the best in the Semi-final which will take place later today. Christopher Quinn, was unlucky yesterday marginally missing out on a qualification spot for the 400mH semi-final by one place. Chris posted a time of 53.45, a fine result in what is his first major Championship in Athletics. Kelly Proper did not progress to the Long Jump final earlier today.
