Galway look to make their mark

The GloHealth Inter County Cross Country Championships take place in the Palace Grounds in Tuam on Sunday with the prize of being the best county in the country on the line.

The four race card programme gets underway with the junior women's 4,000m at 12pm. The timetable is HERE. Niamh Corry (Raheny Shamrock) and Avril Deegan (Ballyroan Abbeyleix) are among those listed in the junior women's race. Corry was fourth in the senior girls at the Leinster Schools Cross Country Championships and Deegan was fourth in the Munsters. 

In the junior men's 6,000m Damian O'Boyle (Craughwell) will be looking to impress for Galway on home soil with Donegal, Dublin and Mayo looking to challenge for the county title

The senior women's 8,000m sees Shona Heaslip (An Riocht) listed for Kerry and will be hoping for double glory with Laura Shaughnessy (DSD) leading the home charge for Galway,

In the senior men's 10,000m the evergreen Pauric McKinney (Inishowen) is listed for Donegal with Galway looking to take the title. The tribesmen have Keith Fallon, Gary Thornton and Matthew Bidwell (all Galway City Harriers) listed among their ranks while individually Emmett Dunleavy (Sligo) and Conor Duffy (Glaslough Harriers) are down as individual entries.
