Galway Women’s Mini-Marathon Embraces Period Supportive Movement in 2025

6 January 2025

As part of Athletics Ireland’s pathway to being period supportive as an organisation, Galway Women’s Mini Marathon is one of the first external events to partner with FabLittleBag in 2025. In 2024 Athletics Ireland made the commitment to partner with FabLittleBag and ensure all it’s Mass Participation Events, Senior Track and Field and Cross Countries were all Period Supportive.

As we move into 2025 we would like as many events as possible to become Period Supportive. Anna Grealish, Women in Sport Lead said ‘ it is such an easy step to make and one which can just make life a little bit easier for all women who are attending an event. Whether you are caught short, need a spare or start your very first period, knowing there are period products available at events takes away that worry. FabLittleBag provide that disposable solution for your period product waste at the outdoor events’.

The Galway Women’s Mini Marathon 2025 is the sole Women only running event in Galway and we are hoping to attract more than 800 runners, joggers and walkers to celebrate the St-Brigid’s bank holiday weekend in Craughwell on Monday 3rd of February 2025.

They are proud to have partnered with FabLittleBag to be a period supportive event, ensuring that no athlete, volunteer, or spectator has to worry about their period while attending or participating in the Galway Women’s Mini Marathon. This initiative, which includes free sanitary products, is part of Athletics Ireland’s vision to have 100% period supportive events by 2025.

All proceeds from the event are used to fund the local athletics facilities and support the next generation of athletes. The event is kindly sponsored by Pamex Ireland and Hygo Water with the support of Galway Athletics and Galway Sports Partnership.”
