Gary Murray has bounced back to top cross country form today to finish 2nd in a high international class field in Tilburg, Holland. This latest result makes Gary favourite to take the national inter counties championships ( trial also for the European Championships ) in two weeks in Dungarvan. Incidentally Murray was top Irish scorer in last year's European Championship in 12th place. On Saturday at the US NCAA regional championships in New York Martin Fagan had a runaway success finishing 47 seconds clear of the field. Fagan who ran so well in the European Championships in Gothenburg and who was 16th in last year's European Cross Country now moves to the US NCAA finals on Monday week in Terre Haute, Indiana where he is expected to a challenger for the top position. After a poor run last weekend in Ghent Mark Kenneally produced a fine performance in Tilburg to finish 7th. Joe McAllister had to settle for 20th place. In the women's race Orla O'Mahony finished 8th. The men's under 23 race saw a fantastic 1,2 for Ireland with the ever improving Michael Clohissey taking 1st place from Mark Kirwan . Mark Hanrahan finished 9th with Dan Mulhare 13th. Orla Drumm was victorious in the women's under 23 race. In the junior women's race Sara Louise Treacy finished an excellent 4th while in the men's event Stephen Scullion was best in 12th place with Craig Murphy back in 19th place.
