European Indoor 400 metres Champion David Gillick has been forced to withdraw from the Irish Team for the World Championships which commence on Saturday next in Helsinki. David has not competed since the Bangor International Meeting on June 24th. and has been able to get back to training only last week after a troublesome hamstring problem. However after some sessions over the week-end he has reluctantly decided to withdraw " It is just too soon" was how he described his decision. He hopes however to be fit enough to run in the World Students Games in Izmir in two weeks time. Further information from Nick Davis 01-8378814 087-2286913
