GloHealth National Juvenile Championships Continue This Weekend

The GloHealth National Juvenile Championships take over Tullamore Harriers Athletics Track again on the weekend as day two and three of the championships commence. The Championships this weekend host the top Irish athletes from the U12 to U19 age groups. Check in for both days of the championships this weekend opens at 8:30am.

Second Day Kicks Off with Long Distance Events

Day two hosts an exciting list of both track and field events. The day on track begins at 10am with the 2000 and 3000m girls walk finals for ages U14-U19. The day on track continues with 400m races, boys walking events, sprint heats, and 3000m races before finishing at 5pm with the sprint finals.

The busy day of field events begin at 10:00am with the U15 girls discus throw and finish at half two when the U17 Boys triple Jump take place alongside shot putt, long jump, javelin and high jump events for different age groups. The day also features events in the pole vault and the hammer throw throughout the day.

Athletes to watch out for on the day include:

Sophie Meredith (St. Marys A.C.),Hope Saunders (Clonliffe Harriers A.C.), Peter Lynch (Kilkenny City Harriers A.C.), Chinie Izuchukwu (Tullamore Harriers A.C.), Brian Masterson (Dundrum South Dublin A.C.), Keith Marks (Cushinstown A.C.), Isabel Carron (Skerries A.C.).

 

Finals take centre-stage on Day Three

The day on track begins at 10am with the Girls U15 250m hurdles and progress through the age groups until 12pm when the 1500m heats commence. At 2pm the 200m heats takes place before the conclusion of the day with 1500m and 200m finals.

Similarly to day two, day three of the Championships offer a large range of field events throughout with the Javelin, Discus, hammer throw, high jump, triple jump and pole vault all on show.

Athletes to watch out for on the day include:

Kevin McGrath (Bohermeen A.C.), Mustafe Nasir (Tallaght A.C.), Anu Awonusi(St. L. O'Toole A.C.), Niamh Moriarty (Dooneen A.C.), Elizabeth Morland (Cushinstown A.C.)
