GloHealth National Juvenile Relays set for Tullamore

The GloHealth Juvenile Relays take place this Saturday the 18th of July in Tullamore. Beginning at 11:30am the 4X100m and 4X400m relays will take over the track. The final round of relays begins at 2:30 with the 4X400m U17 girls. In between the relays, at 1:30 the track will host heats in the 600 and 800m categories for boys and girls from U12-U16 with Juvenile B races happening throughout the day.

Boys Relay Teams bidding for Return Success

Last year at the relays, Leevale AC completed a triple by winning the U14, U15 and the U17 boys 4X100m. The club will be bidding for similar success this year.

In the boys 4X400 races, Tallaght A.C. stormed to victory in the U18 race with a time of 3:31.86. Dundrum South Dublin also performed well in the longer distance relays placing second in the U18 division and first in the U19.

The closest race of the day last year was the U18 Boys 4X100m. Kilkenny City Harriers were locked in a close battle with Bandon A.C.. Kilkenny City Harriers took first place in a time of 44.03s followed by Bandon A.C in 44.04s! Bandon A.C will be looking to turn the tides this year and claim top spot.

Girls Relay Teams preparing for close battle

In the girl’s relays, Blackrock Dublin A.C. last year pulled off a double in the 4X100m as their U13 and U14 girls claimed victory. The quickest 4X100m time of the day was produced by Emerald A.C. athletes in the U17 category who stormed to victory in a quick time of 49.87. Emerald A.C continued to produce quick times on the day as they won the U15, U16 and U17 meter race on the day.

In the 4X400m races for the day, Galway City Harriers claimed the U19 Girls race in a time of 4:12.30 while Dundrum South Dublin took the U18 race in 4:17.15.

Juvenile B Running Alongside Relays

The Juvenile B Championships will also be taking place this Saturday in Tullamore. The track events run at 10:00am and again at 1:30pm between the relay times. The Championships host U12-U16 athletes in both Track & Field events. The field events begin at 10:00am with the shot putt and high jump events which will be followed by the long jump beginning at 10:15 to conclude the day on Field.
