Good Start for Irish in Kaunas at European Junior Championships

There were a number of good performances at The European juniors in Kaunas. Linda Byrne of DSD got the day away to a good start when she set a new national Junior record in the Steeplechase. Clocking 10.32.80 to finish second. Her race was some 4 seconds faster than the other heat and she can look forward to the final with some confidence. Ireland will have two finalists in Sundays 1500 Final. Danny Darcy of St. Laurence O'Toole's finished 3rd. in 3.55.25. In a typical championship style race won by Poland's Marcin Lewandowski. Colin Costolloe of Star of the Sea had to contend with a faster heat where he finished 4th in 3.50.78. the race was won by Alvaro Rodriguez of Spain in 3.50.13. Catriona Cuddihy hurdled faster than ever before to qualify for the 400 hurdles final in 60.36.
